who needs a good laugh? Dumb robber story

@ 06:02 AM (3 months, 28 days ago)
Chicago Robber Tells Victim: I'll Give You My Number, Call Me Back when You have Money Click For Video!
Chicago police said a would-be thief made an unusual request of store employees, which later proved to be his undoing. Police said Tuesday when the 18-year-old man couldn't get any money from an automobile repair shop, he left. Before leaving Velasquez and Sons Mufflers For Less, though, he asked that the employees call him back when someone could open the safe. The 18-year-old man, who was not identified, received the call, but didn't get the money. The employees of the muffler shop said the man, who they said they had never seen before, held a manager at gunpoint Monday morning, and asked for all their money shortly after they opened the shop. "He pushed me against my truck, he pushed something in my back, I didn't know what was going on and asked me for money," said manager Jose Sida. Tony Diaz, one of the store's employees, said Sida told the man that they only had between $20 to $30 on them, to which the man replied, "I want big money." When the employees told the would-be robber that they did not have access to the safe, they told him that the manager would be in later, and that he had access to the safe. The employees said they never expected the thief to do what he did next. "He said, 'If you don't have any money right now, it's all right,'" Diaz said. "'I'll give you my number and you call me back when you have money.' He called back, and we thought the numbers weren't real. And it was a real number, and he is who he is." The employees called police with their story, and two plainclothes officers greeted the man inside when he returned for the money he thought would be waiting for him. "I never thought he was going to come back," Diaz said. Police said they were having a hard time believing the story as well. They confirmed that the officer identified himself at the shop and shot the man when he showed his gun. The teenager was shot once in the leg, police said, and no one else was injured. The shop's employees said they were still wondering what was going through the 18-year-old's mind. "It's pretty funny now, but it wasn't at the time," Diaz said. right or wrong, a birth control issue

Not sure who the bad guy is in this one, the tool of a pharmacist, inflicting his personal religeous veiws on another person, or the courts that punished him, or the girl that didnt take her business elsewhere. Maybe a little of all three......The pharmacist was a dick for not filling a script. But that is his bizness and if he runs it like the jackass he is, the word will get out and he wont have any bizness........The board that slapped a fine on him, was punishing him for following his own convictions, disguised as not giving a patient prescribed meds, that seemed a little one sided..........and the girll who just wanted a simple prescription filled, could have gone elsewhere, unless there is only one pharmacy in Wausau. inconveinent ...yes...maddening....yes....I would be pissed too, and I would have filed a complaint against the jerk, with his employer....once again capitalism at work....do a crappy job, lose job....problem solved....next time do a better job....this kinda hits home for me because the group I work for does not do abortions, or boob jobs ect..for the sake of just an enhancement...its religous based, but they do tons of charity and indigent care for those who wont get care otherwise.....I feel that if the service you want isnt provided by the place you are at....go elsewhere....but there are always exceptions, and "what ifs"....riff

They Live is real...(sort of)..

@ 11:52 PM (4 months, 5 hours ago)

Man this is right outta that movie "They Live" starring Roddy Piper, the spy saucers that routinely flew over the city, looking for anything...except without the subliminal stealth disguise....lolThe Honeywell Micro Air Vehicle or 'Honeywell MAV' is seen during a flight test in this undated photograph taken at an undisclosed location. The MAV weighs 16 pounds when empty (dry) and 18 1/2 pounds when fully loaded with fuel (wet). It is 14 inches in diameter and 22 inches from the feet to the top of the MAV structure. Miami police could soon be the first in the United States to use cutting-edge, spy-in-the-sky technology to beef up their fight against crime. (Honeywell/Handout/Reuters)MIAMI (Reuters) - Miami police could soon be the first in the United States to use cutting-edge, spy-in-the-sky technology to beef up their fight against crime small pilotless drone manufactured by Honeywell International (HON.N), capable of hovering and "staring" using electro-optic or infrared sensors, is expected to make its debut soon in the skies over the Florida Everglades.

If use of the drone wins Federal Aviation Administration approval after tests, the Miami-Dade Police Department will start flying the 14-pound (6.3 kg) drone over urban areas with an eye toward full-fledged employment in crime fighting.

"Our intentions are to use it only in tactical situations as an extra set of eyes," said police department spokesman Juan Villalba.

"We intend to use this to benefit us in carrying out our mission," he added, saying the wingless Honeywell aircraft, which fits into a backpack and is capable of vertical takeoff and landing, seems ideally suited for use by SWAT teams in hostage situations or dealing with "barricaded subjects."

Known in the aerospace industry as UAVs, for unmanned aerial vehicles, drones have been under development for decades in the United States.

The CIA acknowledges that it developed a dragonfly-sized UAV known as the "Insectohopter" for laser-guided spy operations as long ago as the 1970s.And other advanced work on robotic flyers has clearly been under way for quite some time.

"The FBI is experimenting with a variety of unmanned aerial vehicles," said Marcus Thomas, an assistant director of the bureau's Operational Technology Division."At this point they have been used mainly for search and rescue missions," he added. "It certainly is an up-and-coming technology and the FBI is researching additional uses for UAVs."

SAFETY, PRIVACY CONCERNS

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been flying drones over the Arizona desert and southwest border with Mexico since 2006 and will soon deploy one in North Dakota to patrol the Canadian border as well.

This month, Customs and Border Protection spokesman Juan Munoz Torres said the agency would also begin test flights of a modified version of its large Predator B drones, built by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, over the Gulf of Mexico.

Citing numerous safety concerns, the FAA -- the government agency responsible for regulating civil aviation -- has been slow in developing procedures for the use of UAVs by police departments.

"You don't want one of these coming down on grandma's windshield when she's on her way to the grocery store," said Doug Davis, the FAA's program manager for unmanned aerial systems.

He acknowledged strong interest from law enforcement agencies in getting UAVs up and running, however, and said the smaller aircraft particularly were likely to have a "huge economic impact" over the next 10 years.

Getting clearance for police and other civilian agencies to fly can't come soon enough for Billy Robinson, chief executive of Cyber Defense Systems Inc, a small start-up company in St. Petersburg, Florida. His company makes an 8-pound (3.6 kg) kite-sized UAV that was flown for a time by police in Palm Bay, Florida, and in other towns, before the FAA stepped in.

"We've had interest from dozens of law enforcement agencies," said Robinson. "They (the FAA) are preventing a bunch of small companies such as ours from becoming profitable," he said.

Some privacy advocates, however, say rules and ordinances need to be drafted to protect civil liberties during surveillance operations.

"There's been controversies all around about putting up surveillance cameras in public areas," said Howard Simon, Florida director of the American Civil Liberties Union.

"Technological developments can be used by law enforcement in a way that enhances public safety," he said. "But every enhanced technology also contains a threat of further erosion of privacy."

@ 09:45 AM (4 months, 1 day ago)
Its called a Mendocino motor....its levitated by magnets, and powered by solar panels....and I weren't so dumb, id put the you tube link in here....so I will put some pictures here instead......Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image....as the light charges a panel it charges a coil, the coil reacts to the 5th magnet underneath, causing a deflection.  As the panel turns it loses the light, then the next panel gets charged and so on....end result ...it spins its little booty off as long as there is a light source!!!The big question is .....Is there enough torque to spin a loosely coupled generator, if built big enough....ill have to play with this one.....it would be nice to have a solar generator to power "stuff".........if you can get strong enough magnets to float a heavier armature, and maybe add more than a four sided panel array....how bout a octagonal array or even higher multiples...one idea I have (but don't know how do wire it yet), is include a few capacitors in the mix and a charging circuit, and timer device , so that instead of say 3 volts continuous, at a few milliamperes, you could pulse the voltage at a higher level with more amperage, kinda like they do with dc motor pwm...(pulse width modulation.....controls the speed of the motor without sacrificing torque, by pulsing the full voltage at frequency) so maybe a voltage multiplier and pwm combined, at a set frequency? May not increase speed but you might a little more torque....foood for thought.....riff

Almost half of the 47 members of the United Nations' Human Rights Council are not "free democracies" (according to Freedom House rankings), and several, such as China, Cuba, Russia and Saudi Arabia, have been widely criticized as human rights violators. CEDAR-APPLE RUST
Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae
  F A C T S H E E T

Introduction

Cedar-apple rust is just one of several similar fungal diseases which could be broadly classified as Juniper-Rosaceous rusts. All of these rusts have very similar disease cycles but differ in exactly which juniper and rosaceous species they infect.
The fungus spends part of its life cycle on a juniper host and part on a host in the rose family.  It requires both hosts to complete its life cycle.  All of these rust diseases are caused by species in the genus Gymnosporangium.  Cedar-apple rust is caused by the fungus known as Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae.  Two other common juniper-rosaceous rusts are hawthorn rust and quince rust, although there are many more.

The race war that "isn't"

@ 04:44 PM (4 months, 7 days ago)
You know...I am weary of hearing the whole race thing..black this white that, brown too...I heard a compilation of swill on the radio today on how the race issue has been used for political ends...."Vote for the democratics and stop another cross from burning, the rupublicans are after you" *something like that*, Hilery saying "I aint no kinda tired" when addressing a black rally, al gore blatenly equating rascism with republicans, might as well called it the klan party...I think its a shame that the democrats are exploiting an old hurt, that both parties were involved in, in the not too distant past, and both parties worked together to fix (more or less) Im no expert in the legislation of the time, but I do know that in order for DC to make such fundamental changes in the very fabric of the country it takes both sides of the party coin, maybe a little more from one side or the other depending on the case invloved....If I had my way, I would put every race hater, klan, panthers, reconquesta, ect in a big arena, give them all machine guns and lock them in and let em go at it, and shoot any survivors as they try to leave....then maybe the rest of us could get some peace....I despise the klan just as much or maybe even more, than I do any other racist group. I have seen a few of their "rallys" and they make me ashamed to be of the same color as they are...sick bastards all of them....so in closing all I can say is....Be  true to yourslves, put "you" in charge of your life, and work hard...educate yourself, and if you "make it" help educate others, the true enabler is ignorance....color is no barrier unless you make it so...riff

Vermont town wants to arrest Bush and Cheney..lol

@ 03:41 AM (4 months, 21 days ago)

This is almost too pathetic to be funny

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Voters in two Vermont towns on Tuesday approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for "crimes against our Constitution," local media reported (this is too funny)

The nonbinding, symbolic measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro in a state known for taking liberal positions on national issues, instructs town police to "extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them."

Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, ( and a bunch of idiots) is known for its liberal politics.

State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.

Bush has never visited the state as president, though he has spent vacations at his family compound in nearby Maine.

Roughly 12,000 people live in Brattleboro, located on the Connecticut River in the state's southeastern corner. Nearby Marlboro has a population of roughly 1,000. (would'n that be funny to see them try to arrest them two....Hellow federal prison...lol)
