how neat a different type of motor.....look ma no politics!!

@ 09:45 AM (5 months, 7 days ago)
Its called a Mendocino motor....its levitated by magnets, and powered by solar panels....and I weren't so dumb, id put the you tube link in here....so I will put some pictures here instead......Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image....as the light charges a panel it charges a coil, the coil reacts to the 5th magnet underneath, causing a deflection.  As the panel turns it loses the light, then the next panel gets charged and so on....end result ...it spins its little booty off as long as there is a light source!!!The big question is .....Is there enough torque to spin a loosely coupled generator, if built big enough....ill have to play with this one.....it would be nice to have a solar generator to power "stuff".........if you can get strong enough magnets to float a heavier armature, and maybe add more than a four sided panel array....how bout a octagonal array or even higher multiples...one idea I have (but don't know how do wire it yet), is include a few capacitors in the mix and a charging circuit, and timer device , so that instead of say 3 volts continuous, at a few milliamperes, you could pulse the voltage at a higher level with more amperage, kinda like they do with dc motor pwm...(pulse width modulation.....controls the speed of the motor without sacrificing torque, by pulsing the full voltage at frequency) so maybe a voltage multiplier and pwm combined, at a set frequency? May not increase speed but you might a little more torque....foood for thought.....riff

  1. I've been predicting a major breakthru on a cheap energy source. We're due. Every so many years there's a light bulb, a radio, a transistor or microchip invented. I know we're close to a very useable electric car. All it's going to take is another step in battery technology.

Many years ago a friend and I discussed the possibilities of someone inventing a cheap energy source. We were of the opinion that the economic impact would be world changing and in a virtual instant. We, also, speculated on whether or not the inventor would be killed. Imagine all oil prices dropping to nearly jack. Imagine Exxon stock falling to pennies a share. Imagine no more electric bills.Honestly, I don't think the government would sit still. I think they'd declare a national security crisis.

  2. Check out thermal depolymerization....they can make #2 grade oil for refining, out of anything carbon based....there is just no infrastructure to make it wide spread....last time I read on it it was approx 17 dollars a barrel to produce-vs-12 dollars a barrel by drilling crude...then there is plasma gasification...as long as you have "feed stock" common houshold trash or road kill, or even raw sewage or go reclaim a landfill, this thing will process TONS per day with a single unit, you get roughly three products, you get a usable burnable gas that can be burned or combusted, or used as a hydrogen source for fuel cells, and the rest is either metals or silicates....the waste "slag"....and even it has uses...reclaim the metals, and the silicates or like obsidian, and can be used to make abrasives or cinder blocks like bricks, or crushed for other uses such as pavement filler...its out there already, but like you said "big oil" and all the other associated big money with big oil, (which includes the governments of multiple countries)will not let that happen unless they can control or make the same money, hell the mobs that run the Trash Bizness in New York have tried to sop the plasma gas stuff, because it was cutting in to the waste management racket, no dumping fees no hauling fees ect..I bet we could sic dugg on the subject, and he would be better able to digg up the info, on the suppression aspect by the "Big boys"...lol...(I made a funny *digg dugg*...like the old video game get it?)..as the old bald detective (played by telly savalas) kojak would say "who luvs ya baby"...lol...riff
