Is ZERO tolerance a good thing?
The Hope High School student, of Port Lavaca, drove her father’s pickup to the campus at 300 Alcoa Drive on Monday, Port Lavaca Chief of Police John Stewart said. Her father works for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.(OOPS!!!.....)
The student was unaware an unloaded pistol was in the vehicle, Calhoun County ISD Superintendent Larry Nichols said. No one was threatened by the weapon.
“This was incidental,” Nichols said. “It was not purposeful.”
A K-9 unit discovered the gun as part of a routine drill around 1:30 p.m., Nichols said. The student was removed from campus and expelled due to school policy..
“What she did was a violation of school policy, not a violation of state law,” Stewart said. “We researched it. There was no criminal violation. The school is handling the situation.”
Her parents were notified, Nichols said.
The school supervisor even admitted, the girls total duplicity...."but school policy sez......"......I realize that the rules are there for a reason, and for the kids and teachers safety.....but come on folks....this is fricken crazy.......but at what point does "I was just following orders" justify doing some assanine thing like this.....Any system that is so rigid that you cannot reveiw things on a case by case basis, is doomed to just plain piss people off.....riff
