The opening of "Milk," director Gus Van Sant's account of California's first openly gay politician, is four weeks away. Yet you wouldn't know it.

Unlike the hoopla over Focus Features' previous gay-themed awards magnet, "Brokeback Mountain," which was drawing calls of agenda-pushing from right-wingers months before it opened in 2005, there's been hardly a peep in editorial pages or on talk radio. (well Sean Penn is in it isn't he...thats reason enough to scrap the film)

Admittedly, the election is a major distraction. But Focus also is doing something deliberate: It's eschewing publicity for the Sean Penn vehicle, keeping it out of the high-profile fall film festivals and heavily restricting media screenings. (Probably because any divisive endorsments....such as Sean Penn has made in the past...would reflect badly during this election cycle ...on the presss/media/ hollywood choice that THEY WANT TO SHOVE DOWN THE PUBLIC THROAT)

"The best way to help this film win over a mainstream audience is to avoid partisanship, and the best way to avoid partisanship is to let people find out about the film from the film itself," said one person involved with the film. (Gee I should go get tickets now...lol...being strongly hetero, I don't think it will be on my to do list any time soon, besides I had never even heard of this guy, or his story so I really don't give a shit)

Giving up word-of-mouth to avoid hot air is not a typical trade-off -- notice how Lionsgate effectively flogged politically charged movies like Oliver Stone's George W. Bush biopic "W." and the Bill Maher documentary "Religulous" -- but it's one Focus is willing to make. (Well that is because it serves a political agenda...duh....the usual spin and propaganda)

Not that it will last. The political football will be kicked off when the movie premieres Tuesday night in San Francisco and then put in play after the November 4 election. And when that happens, the studio will face a marketing dilemma: how to accommodate the gay-rights angle the core audience expects while appealing to mainstream filmgoers who might not be immediately moved to see a movie about the subject. (Free tickets...or maybe reimbursement for lost time watching the movie?)

One example of those filmgoers: At a recent Vegas test-screening for a middle-class, straight audience, several senior citizens tried to leave after a gay love scene in the early moments but couldn't because they were trapped in the middle of a row (near Focus production chief John Lyons, in fact). The seniors eventually said they were happy that they stayed, but, like independent voters in an election contest, these are the viewers Focus must woo. (That alone is enough for me....women kissing women....eh ...whatever....men sucking face with men....oh hell no)

Like its initial phase of playing keep-away from cable news, the post-election phase will also involve staying above politics. Focus plans on selling "Milk" in part as a story of hope and change (Harvey Milk, a member of San Francisco's Board of Superviors until his assassination in 1978, won equal-rights battles against great odds), just as it sold "Brokeback" as a love story.

The ploy was logical with "Brokeback." It's less so here.

Like "Brokeback," "Milk" features a gay romance. But unlike "Brokeback," "Milk" is made by gay filmmakers, features the polarizing Penn and puts itself squarely in a political context. Milk's fight against California's anti-gay-rights Proposition 6 -- a drama the movie deals with in great detail -- spookily parallels the current California fight over Proposition 8, a measure that would ban gay marriage.

Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, said that "since this movie is about a beloved politician who was killed, it won't be easy for our adversaries to fight us on it." Focus and its Oscar handlers should get the weaponry ready anyway. (You know.....what ever you shove up your keester behing closed doors is your business......but don't force your veiws and opinions on me then act angry or beligerant, when I don't agree....whicj is typical angry activist motus operendi...be they gay or anti war or rascist, or animal rights or black sepratist, or those jerkwad klansmen, or aryans, or any other left wing coo coo group, or extreme right wing group also....do yo thing and leave me the fuc* alone, if I agree with you I will seek you out, if I don't you wont convince me anyway....and as an after note.....sean penn can kiss my ass...the only thing he has done good was to smack madonna around when they were married....lol...riff)

JACKSON, Mich. - A man accused of stabbing his mother with a fork and attacking a second woman with 10 pounds of frozen chicken has pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault. Frederick McKaney, 40, entered the plea Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court. Prosecutors dropped additional assault, larceny and other charges.(and charged with FOWL play..rofl)

Prosecutors said McKaney stabbed his mother with a fork June 23 and later exchanged words with another woman as he rode a stolen bicycle. They said he hit her in the head with a plastic bag of frozen chicken, opening a wound that required five surgical staples to close.(what a loser....I just don't get  it....*yawn*...Gee I'm bored.....I think i'll go stab Ma with a fork and go to the grocery store and get some chicken soup fixins, damn lost the car keys.....hey thats a cute little bicycle...problem solved...lol....)

McKaney will be sentenced Dec. 11. He faces up to four years in prison and a $2,000 fine.(and forever being labeled as a dumbass)

A message seeking comment was left for McKaney's attorney on Monday.(who replied...I don't even like chicken soup).....bwa ha ha ha...riff

I knew it would happen, it was just a matter of time.....ACORN has officialy dropped the R bomb.  When all else fails pull out that good ole race card. "ACORN is being targeted because we get minority, and low income  voters to register and vote!".....And pay them off with beer cigarettes, and dollar bills, for each time they register. WASHINGTON - Police said a man suspected in an armed robbery at an alleged brothel in Washington's Columbia Heights neighborhood left some evidence at the scene - his thumb.

Police say a 22-year-old man and an accomplice made off with hundreds of dollars in cash in the Oct. 11 raid. According to charging documents, one of the victims took control of the suspect's silver machete and hacked off his right thumb.(Makes it a bitch to hitchhike, don't it...rofl)

About two hours after the robbery, a nine-fingered man went to an emergency room. Police caught up with him and brought the severed thumb to the hospital.(so much for little jack horny sticking his thumb in the pie...hey man that ain't no plum....ROFL)

According to an arrest affidavit, a doctor told police the thumb "fits like a puzzle piece." The man was transferred to a Baltimore hospital to have it reattached. (Uh that ain't my thumb, dude, that's somebody Else's thumb...its a coincidence ..."I want my lawyer I've been fraaaaaaaamed)

On Tuesday, a judge ordered the Hyattsville, Md., man held without bond....(Yeah...no shit....what a moron...lol)

I was at a local chicken place today getting a three piece dark with jalapenos and *angioplasty*...lol...when I noticed the clerks shirt. It said "relax gringo, I'm here legally".....At first I thought it was funny....Then I started to think about it......You know if I wore a shirt that said "Don't panic homie,  I'm not from immigration"....I bet she would have been pissed....Because that would have been rascist.....but relax gringo is ok?......just an obversation....riff

In florida, the dums, did everything they could to tweak the votes there to give themselves the better outcome. Hanging chads and all......all they while claiming repubs were disenfranchising voters, yet they were blocking the absentee ballots sent in by the troops, and effectively disenfranchising them....the difference?  The votes they wanted were primarily demo oriented, and the troops are more rupub oriented.....so we couldn't have that, now could we.........Now there is acorn...predominately left oriented, and "allegedly"....rife with fraud. But the main result of the votes in question are favorable to dems, fraudulent or not....so they want them all....Now the repubs are taking this to court to have it looked into, and have the questionable votes verified......but oh no..we can't have that, that could detract from the dems total.  My question is, if the left is so certain of winning the election, why is it that they have to use the mainstream media bias and voter fraud to win.....Can they not win on actual merit alone?......You be the judge.......riff  

Just watched eagle eye a few days ago....Cool movie....from a technical perspective, the super computer was, was pure Hollywood BS, the basic way it functioned....not possible...it was kinda like a big mobile central eye that looked at all the different input ports, putting out info in infrared, it was built like a hollow ball with the "eye" at the center moving around "looking" at the inside of the shell, where all the inputs were.....like I said total bs in the real world, but it sure looked cool as hell. Now as for the rest....the way people were being used as pawns to make a certain goal happen was brilliant in concept.......pawn number one had to.......leave a certain light switch on, and unlock a certain door at 3:15......meanwhile another pawn is running to the area in the dark being told to run to the lighted dock only and go in the first unlocked door....that kinda thing. Neither of the pawns knew how the big picture was being painted, ...just their part....anyhow it was worth seeing.  Makes you wonder....do they have a computer actually capable of what the one in the movie wads capable of doing?.....riff
