Reality check...ouch
Yesterday I decided to play superman...I decided to ride my bike from my house to my sister in laws house in town. A measly 7.8 miles.....And then a few miles after I got started, I thought to my self.."self....now that the crack has left your brain (lol) what the hell were you thinking?????"...The last time I got on a bicycle and really tried to use it was in the 80's while I was in the NAVY....and the occasional 1-2 mile attempt in the last 5 years......Hey I can do 5 miles on the elliptical no problem I told the wifey...The answer was "uh huh"....Well anyhow an hour and a half later, I made it. Did I forget to mention that there are a lot of rolling hills in my area...most of them seemed to be up..lol...But anyhow, the days of the big ole Banana seat are gone, and about all you can get on those dang 18 speed bikes are those little hard beat up the butt bone types....I didn't get chafed thank god but my tail bones are fricken sore, not to mention a little lactic acid buildup.... To make matters worse, I had purchased one of those wal mart bikes for about a hundred, and it's first real "maiden voyage" the gear assembly in the back un assed it's self and would skip when I applied any torque while I was pedaling, kinda like a standard tranny missing a few teeth. And by the way a one slinged back pack is not a good idea either...there is a reason the real pro's use a camelback...that damn pack kept sliding in front to get in the way of pedaling, and had to be knocked back on my back, even forgot some kind of riding gloves...(oh lookie blisters)...but all aside from the many difficulties, and the fact that my backside probably looked a portabella mushroom perched on top of that skinny seat, it was a rotten experience...lol...just kidding...I plan to get a better bike, and start off a little slower....I have got to drop some more poundage, about 30 more or so, to reach my goal....riff
