If this doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of your neck or make you want to spit nails......Mind you it's ONLY at "low performing" schools....ATTENTION ATTENTION......ALL YOU PARENTS THAT HAVE KIDS IN GOOD SCHOOLS....TOUGH LUCK....... THIS IS THE DEMOCRAT REWARD FOR EXCELLENCE AND SELF RELIANCE.....YOU GET NOTHING.....the ones that sit on their lazy ass, and don't try...get rewarded by the DEMOCRAT WAY OF THINKING.......only *ahem* dumb republicans try hard for self reliance and independence , when it's soooo easy to crap your pants and then whine because you don't have a nanny to change your diaper, and ask for a hand out....so to speak....riff

Students who earn good grades at bad Texas high schools could earn cash from the state.

Democratic state Rep. Joe Deshotel, of Beaumont, proposed a pilot program to give students at low-performing schools cash for good grades in core subjects.

Under Deshotel's plan, schools rated academically unacceptable would be selected through a lottery to participate in the program. Freshmen at those poor-performing schools could then earn $50 for each A, $35 for each B and $20 for each C in core classes of English, math, science or social studies.

Students would be paid half of their earned money at the end of each grading period and the other half at graduation -- a move undoubtedly designed at boosting the state's graduation rate.

Deshotel said the dropout rate "is unacceptably high in Texas." He adds that if the cash rewards help to lower that rate, the Legislature could look at expanding the program. It remains to be seen if the program ever plans to pay students at higher-performing schools for earning the same grades as their peers in lower-performing schools.

Funding for Deshotel's program would come from the $6 million for education the state is expected to get from President Barack Obama's stimulus package.

Texas is not unique in this idea. Other pay-for-grades programs are in place in Chicago; Baltimore; New York; Tucson, Ariz.; and Washington, D.C.

So in other words....Because Gov Perry has refused to accept the porkulus bill money, the Democraps  are making an appeal "for the children"..*big sigh*........How bout (hold on dems...this could be a shock)....how about cutting the lazy people gravy train, and diverting that money to college funding, and maybe even after school programs to help out the areas that need it...an after school tutoring business?....and that way, the kids that actually want to do better have more resources to utilize......and maybe succeed......and as for the ones that wont attend and don't try....TOUGH......SEE YOU IN THE NEXT EPISODE OF COPS GETTING TAZED AND CUFFED its called the results of your bad decisions...once you get old enough to read, the information is out there , you have no real excuse to be out running the streets at midnight getting into trouble....Blame only yourself...or your loving parents.....(and yes there are always some extinuating cases, but the majority have no real excuse)...riff
