BP MS150...loooong day
Sunday I helped out with the MS150...Manning a break point and helping the cyclist out....WOW what a lot of dedicated people...these selfless individuals, rode their bikes for roughly 180 miles to help raise money to fund research for a cure for multiple sclerosis...from Houston to Austin and they *ahem* had the nerve to thank us for helping the cause , by handing out tons of Motrin, water and bio-freeze......(that was sarcasm by the way)....I have never seen such a large group of such selfless people. One gentleman was a bilateral below the knee amputation, with special artificial legs...and HE did it....and some people go on early disability when they lose a foot or toe, "whining I can't work I'm disabled"....HA!...OK my one rant is done (yeah right).....We manned the station from approx 0830 am, to approx 630 pm, there was over 10,000 people involved in the whole shebang...from Houston to Austin. All in all it was kinda cool. We did a good service to a bunch of wonderful people and ....we got a tiny (very very tiny) taste of what it may be like in the case of some disaster in which we will be called to help out an unknown amount of people in dire need, or refugees from another Katrina, or Ike....Even got a little windburn and sunburn, but ya know, to see these people from around this great country and some from other countries unite in a common cause without regards to race creed color, political ideology, or nation...........was absolutely awesome....maybe just maybe there may be hope for Garafolo, Susan Rosegen, and Michael Moore...(naaahhhhh they are still asshats), or maybe even for an opinionated wannabe blogger...(now who could that be...maybe the author of this one?....lol).....riff
