Yet another generator update

Dam Dam Dam!...fricken coils didn't work, I am frustrated.......Just to bring everybody up to speed, I have been VAINLY attempting to build a little wind powered generator from scratch.....Apparently I suck!....I have wired and re-wired the stator and tried different coils but for some reason all I get is about 3 volts out when I spin the generator.....rats..

Oh well...maybe I need more Magnets....I was using six coils to six paired magnets. Next time I try it (after cleaning up the now destroyed stator..ooops now how did that hammer drop there?)..I will vary the coils in number, rewind and try it again.....if at first ya don't succeed...lol...riff

  1. Just curious. How much would what you are trying to make cost to buy? How much have you spent in materials? How much time have you spent? Finally, is the hammer still usable?

  2. magnets were roughly 30 bucks with shipping, coil wire approx 15, fiber glass resin ....cheap.....the rest of the stuff was from my "junk box" of accumulated stuff.....a REAL generator setup runs ya about two to three grand on the small ones and more for the bigger wattage outputs......the hammer is fine......:mrgreen:.......my next course of action is most likely going to involve a high output automotive alternator.....despite the lititure recomending against it...Im going for battery charging-vs-off the grid....for now...lol..riff

  4. So IF you could get it cranked up and working you would save a shitload of money at virtually nominal cost other than you invaluable labor of course.
